If you like luxurious accomodation, with peaceful and
charming islanders and no security problems or trinket sellers hassling
you on the beach then Nevis is for you!
Nevis seems to be caught in a time warp and is one of the very few
caribbean islands that is not overdeveloped. The island is
about 36 sq.miles, situated around an extinct volcano which
is surrounded
by lush tropical forest and with beautiful beaches on the caribbean
coast. You can drive or cycle around Nevis on the 21mile circular
road.
It's neighbouring island St Kitts is just 3 miles away, and is connected to us
by a car ferry ,( about US60 for a day trip with car return .. so you can look
around
St.Kitts in comfort, )
...and
on
a
clear
day from the east of Nevis you can see Monserrat and even
Antigua in the distance. It is a peaceful and quiet island, with good
restaurants, and a great place to relax. Nevis attracts
adventurous travellers who enjoy a peaceful, relaxing vacation in the
warm Caribbean sea and sun.
There are several super- luxury hotels all of which have bars and
restaurants that you can use, there is a Robert Trent Golf course at
the Four Seasons Hotel and also tennis courts and beauty
massage. You can visit the Nisbet Plantation Hotel for
evening cocktails and sit in the lounge and listen to live
soft music, you can also reserve a place for Dinner. The
Hermitage Plantation is also well worth visiting, and also the
Montpelier Plantation Hotel." Coconut Grove" and "Banana's "restaurants are great for food.
The Oualie Beach Hotel is about 10 minutes walk away where our
are guests are welcome to use the bar and restaurant, and use for free
all the beach facilities of this pretty collection of Gingerbread
Cottages situated on a calm shallow sandy bay, with very safe

to, usually on friday nights. Snorkeling,

use the restaurant.
Nevis is a really friendy island, the people are really kind and
welcome visitors from every country. Nevis has one of the
highest
literacy rates in the Caribbean and the islanders are religious, law
abiding and helpful. No huge fences around houses to keep out
burgulars, crime is very low in Nevis, life is pleasant
and gentle.
So, how can you get to Nevis?
Nevis does not have an airport big enough for todays huge jets... this
is
what keeps the island so special, you will fly into Nevis
from
one of the larger nearby islands. A new route started on American
Airlines from New York JFK direct to nearby St. Kitts, and they
also fly Miami to St. Kitts. Nevis is then a 30min ride on the ferry.
From Europe you fly to Antigua on BA, BMI , Virgin etc, and then
take a
25 min flight on LIAT to Nevis. If you have a group of 4-6
you can charter your own plane from Antigua to Nevis. From the UK you
can also fly Heathrow to Paris onto
St Martin on Air
France, and then fly to Nevis on Winnair ( about 40mins flight.),
or
Heathrow -Amsterdam - St Maarten on KLM. KLM of course flies
daily from Amsterdam to the caribbean. From America you can also
fly
to Antigua and then across to Nevis, or from Miami, then to
Peurto
Rico and then direct to Nevis on
American Eagle. There are now daily JetBlue flights from Miami and JFK
direct to St.Maarten , and then you take Winnair to Nevis .
You can
also arrive via St. Maarten.on several other airlines. It all
sounds a bit complicated but
usually it is just
one change of airline/flight. You will not regret the little extra
trouble. The sea temperature here is always about 75 degrees!
